Morel Mushroom Festival in Muscoda!

Everyone knows that “All Roads Lead to Muscoda!”  So that is where the Isenhart crew met up to visit Grammy Ike and celebrate the Morel Mushroom Festival!

The festing included walking downtown through the flea market, sampling brats and beers, watching the tractor pull, hunting for morels and much more.

After a bit of festing we decided to go to the Smith’s farm to hunt for morels.  Chrissy was the big winner, with the most and prettiest morels.  Although Mom put in the greatest effort she was skunked.  And EJ being a first time hunter and failing  to come up big tried to pull a fast one and filled his bag full of leaves.  He came back to the group with an ear to ear grin saying, “Look at all the mushrooms I found!”  Made for a good laugh!  We also go to meet Ben’s handsome labrador Moose!

Although I love the mushroom festival I generally do not like eating fungus.  But you cannot go to Muscoda without trying a morel or two, so if you batter them and fry them up with enough butter, they taste pretty good!

Our cousins happen to have three of the cutest children in the entire world.  Isaac Ike is about 8 months old and this was our first chance to meet him.  He is such a sweetie.  Henry and Audra are just the happiest kids and they seem so much smarter than kids their age should be!

Jill went into the bouncy house with Henry a couple times and after that he was brave enough to climb up and go down the slide by himself. Good thing too, because Jilli got kicked out by the carnies!

I got to spend a little bit of one on one time with Grammy which I really cherished.  She is the most fun and has had an amazing attitude all throughout her illness.  I have so many happy memories with her and have been blessed to have such a wonderful role model in my life!  Love you so much Grammy!

  1. What a great recap–looks like such a blast! What a special time with your Grammy…was really thinking of you guys and knew you were cherishing every second together.

  2. Jenee-Laura read your blog to “grammy” on Tuesday night and I read it again to her on Wednesday morning. We all smiled, laughed & cried. Mom was so very happy and so proud of all her grandchildren/great grandchildren. She was so happy to hear about all the parts she missed as was Laura & I. Bless you for sharing this! aunt cindala
